Remote Access to Enterprise Miner

Account Setup

  • Apply for an IF account with WNT services (or add WNT services to your existing IF account) at

    Client Download

    1. Download Citrix client for your platform
    2. Install Citrix client
    The order of the following steps is very important!

    Connecting to Citrix Server

    (a) Linux

    1. Click on Menu item Options|Settings
    2. Select Server Location from pop-up menu
    3. Add the following server to the Address list

      earthquake.cc.utexas.edu

    4. Now, add/configure your ICA connection
      1. Under the Network pop-up menu
        Check the "Published Application" button (instead of the "Server" button), then click on the "..." button to select an application, e.g.

      2. Enter
        • Username:Your IF Username
        • Domain:WNT
        • Password:Your IF Password
      3. Connect to the server using this setup

    (b) Windows

    1. Click on the Settings button on the toolbar to invoke the "Custom ICA Connections" Dialog box.
      • In the Address List below 'Server Group', Add

        earthquake.cc.utexas.edu

        and keep the other settings as default (TCP/IP, Primary)
      • If you are inside a , click the "Firewalls..." button to configure the "Address of proxy to use" and "Port". Consult your administrator for details regarding whether to use SOCKS proxy. (Don't check the "use alternate address for firewall connection" box)

    2. From the Main ICA windows, Select "Add ICA Connection" Icon
      1. Choose "Wide Area Network"

      2. Check the "Published Application" button, NOT the "Server"
      3. Select "SAS Enterprise Miner GUI" from the pop-up list
      4. Enter
        • Username:Your IF Username
        • Domain:WNT
        • Password:Your IF Password
      5. Connect to the server using this setup

  • Always save your project on the drive local to where Enterprise Miner is running (e.g. usu. drive C:, for the citrix server and the LRC lab machines). After you are done, then back it up to a non-local drive. This will speed things up a lot as Enterprise Miner writes numerous intermediate files to disk during computation.
